About Shahmat
Built for players who actually want to know.
Shahmat is a chess analytics platform built around how well players apply chess principles — not just whether they avoided a blunder.
Most chess tools tell you what move was wrong. Shahmat looks across hundreds, or thousands, of your games and surfaces the patterns underneath — where you lose the most rating, which positions you misjudge consistently, when time pressure starts costing you points, how your endgame conversion compares to players in your rating band.
Built on Stockfish 18 analysis at depth 20, layered with 30+ custom heuristics per game. Peer benchmarking is on the roadmap — comparing your patterns to what players at your level actually do.
What We Believe
Process matters more than outcome.
You can play an 1800-level game and still lose to a one-move time blunder. Win rate alone doesn't tell you much about how you actually played. Shahmat measures the process.
Different products serve different needs.
Many great chess platforms use gamification — streaks, XP, badges — and it works well for keeping casual players engaged. Shahmat isn't built that way. We're focused on serious improvement and analysis, so the experience is closer to a coaching tool than a game.
Analysis is free. You pay for the report.
No subscription. Importing and analysing your games costs nothing. Diagnostic reports are priced one report at a time, from £29 for a Geometric report. Purchases are currently disabled, and during the beta every account gets 2 free Geometric reports.
Coaches make Shahmat better, not redundant.
A great coach is one of the highest-leverage investments a serious player can make. Shahmat is built to slot into that work — handing the diagnostic phase to data so coaches and students can spend their time on what actually moves the needle.
Chess understanding is the point.
The end goal isn't a higher rating. It's understanding what's happening on the board — in your own games, and in the top-level chess you watch.
Who It's For
Serious chess improvers, roughly 1000–2200 rated, who want to understand their game at a deeper level than “your accuracy was 85%.” Players who would consider (or already pay for) coaching, study time, or proper improvement tools.
A Note From the Founder

I built Shahmat because I love chess and I felt the analytics around it had always been thin.
For a game with this much depth — hundreds of millions of recorded games, every move searchable, every position evaluable to fractional pawn values — chess analytics has often stayed at the surface. Accuracy percentages. Blunder counts. Move classifications. Useful, but not the whole picture of how you play.
Other sports have gone further with data. Golf has Strokes Gained — separating how well you played from whether the putts dropped. Football has Expected Goals — measuring process rather than scoreline luck. I always felt chess deserved the same depth of measurement, and for a long time I waited for someone to build it.
Eventually I stopped waiting.
Shahmat is the analytics layer I wanted as a player and couldn't find. It treats the game seriously. It assumes you can handle real feedback. It tries to tell you, honestly, where you stand and where the rating points are leaking.
It's a solo project for now. I'm the only person building it, designing it, fixing the bugs, writing the copy, and replying to support emails. That means it moves fast and stays focused, and it grows based on what users actually ask for. If you have feedback, it reaches me directly. If something is missing or broken, tell me.
Thanks for being here.
