Terms of Service

1. What we provide

Shahmat Analytics is a chess analytics platform. Our Service allows you to: import chess games from third-party platforms (chess.com, Lichess) or by uploading PGN files directly; have your games analysed using the Stockfish chess engine at grandmaster-level depth; view detailed analytical reports covering your playing style, strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement across multiple dimensions; receive AI-powered game reviews with personalised coaching feedback; and review individual games with advanced visualisations including board control, piece activity, and positional analysis.

2. Your account

To use our Service, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account. You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account. You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or if we reasonably believe your account is being used in a manner that is harmful to us, other users, or third parties.

3. Credits and payment

Our Service operates on a pay-as-you-go credit model. You purchase credit packages that allow you to submit games for analysis. The number of games included in each package is specified at the time of purchase.

3.1 Purchasing credits

Credit packages are available at the prices displayed on our website at the time of purchase. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include any applicable taxes. Payment is processed securely by Stripe. Credits are added to your account immediately upon successful payment.

3.2 Using credits

Credits are consumed when you submit games for analysis. Each game submitted uses one credit, regardless of the game’s length or complexity. Credits are non-transferable between accounts.

3.3 Credit validity

Purchased credits do not expire. Your credit balance will remain on your account for as long as your account is active.

3.4 Refunds

We offer refunds in the following circumstances: if a technical failure on our side prevents your games from being analysed and we are unable to resolve the issue within a reasonable timeframe, we will refund the credits consumed or, at your option, restore the credits to your account; if you request a refund within 14 days of purchasing a credit package and you have not used any of the credits from that package, you are entitled to a full refund under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

We cannot offer refunds for credits that have already been used to analyse games, as the analysis service has been fully delivered. To request a refund, please contact us at support@shahmat.io.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use our Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

• use the Service to analyse games for the purpose of cheating in live chess competitions
• attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt our systems, servers, or infrastructure
• use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service other than through our provided interfaces and APIs
• resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or any data generated by it without our prior written consent
• upload content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes the intellectual property rights of others
• impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organisation

5. Intellectual property

5.1 Your content

You retain ownership of the chess games you import or upload to our Service. By using the Service, you grant us a licence to process, analyse, store, and display your game data for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

5.2 Analysis and reports

The analytical reports, insights, and AI coaching feedback generated by our Service are provided for your personal use. You may share your reports and insights publicly (for example, on social media or chess forums) and we encourage you to do so, but you may not systematically extract or repurpose the underlying data or methodology for commercial purposes.

5.3 Our intellectual property

The Service, including our website, software, algorithms, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by Shahmat Analytics Ltd and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or branding without our prior written consent.

6. Third-party platforms

Our Service integrates with third-party chess platforms including chess.com and Lichess. Your use of these platforms is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, practices, or availability of third-party platforms. When you import games from these platforms, you represent that you have the right to do so under their terms of service.

7. Service availability and limitations

We aim to provide our Service reliably and without interruption, but we do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you in advance of any planned downtime.

Analysis quality depends on the Stockfish chess engine and our analytical algorithms. While we strive for accuracy, chess analysis involves inherent complexity and the insights provided should be treated as guidance rather than absolute truth.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• Our Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
• Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on our website at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Account termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at support@shahmat.io or through the account settings in the Service. Upon account closure, we will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Any unused credits on your account at the time of closure are forfeited unless you are entitled to a refund under section 3.4.

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you materially breach these Terms, use the Service in a way that could cause harm to us or others, or if we are required to do so by law. If we terminate your account for reasons other than your breach, we will refund any unused credits.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also have additional statutory rights under the laws of your country of residence that cannot be overridden by these Terms.
